Abstract
The Bayside Church in the Borough of Queens, has not developed its active laypersons and conflicts and dissensions have developed among the members of the church. This small Korean church has a lack of interest in making changes that might lead to the development of the church, so that it became regarded as a kind of social gathering for Korean community. Activities have centered upon a few leading families rather than on motivating the church. This leads the members of the church astray from the proper line of practice of Christian life. Members have not been active in church activities of one sort or another, resulting in the lack of the leadership training. New members have found it hard to take their root because the opinions and ways of thinking of a few leaders have prevailed. Thus, the new-comers, if any, have been introduced into the church, not by the missionary activities, but by personal connections. All this has prevented the new-comers from actively participating in and contributing to the church activities. Although they continue to attend the church, they have a hard time taking an active part in the activities in and around the church. This leads to a weakening of the essential work of the church-mission.
